Zühtü BAKIR
Zühtü Bakır was born in Tokat in 1971. He received his undergraduate degree from YTU Metallurgical and Material Engineering Department in 1992. He completed “the EU Expertise Program” in Ankara University European Community Application and Research Center and “the EU Lobbying, Organizing and Negotiation Skills Program" in the Netherlands CLINGENDAEL International Relations Institute and has a master's degree on "Technology Policies and Innovation Management" from Ankara Social Sciences University.
Zühtü Bakır, who started to work in the aluminium sector in 1992 and continued with the steel sector, worked in various titles from expert to general director at the Ministry of Industry and Technology, which he started in 1998. He left the public service in June 2017, and became the Secretary General of Turkish Machinery Federation, MAKFED.
Bakır undertook the Secretariat of the third Turkish Industry Summit in 2013 and also organized Turk-Arap Industrial Cooperation Conference ve D-8 Industry Ministers Conference. He acted an active role in the preparation and implementation of industry strategies such as Turkey Industrial Strategy Document (Towards EU Membership) (2011-2014) and Machinery and Automotive.
He acted as member of Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Energy Efficiency Coordination Council, Ministry of Commerce, the Prevention of Unfair Competition in Imports Council and represented to Turkey at the European Union working and ADCO groups such as Machinery, ATEX, PED, TED and Lift and OECD Steel Committee for a long period.
He worked as rapporteur, group member and president of some TSE standardisation groups like Accreditation, Regulation, Machinery and Metal. He also joined 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. term Development Plans studies as rapporteur and member.
He continues to be a member of TOBB, Turkish Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing Assembly and its Legislation Committee Chairman. He is chairman of Vocational Qualifications Authority Machinery Committee Chairman and member of Ministry of Industry MAKTEK Committee and KIK Public Procurement Working Group.
