The Machinery Safety Regulation 2006/42/EC, which sets out the basic requirements that machines must comply with, is changing.

Turkey needs to coordinate the EU Technical Legislation, which it has harmonized within the framework of the Customs Union it has established with the EU. Accordingly, the 2006/42/EC Machinery Directive EUR-Lex - 52021PC0202 - EN - EUR-Lex (europa.eu) revision proposal, which is the source of the Machinery Safety Regulation, was published by the European Commission on 21 April 2021.

While the Product Safety and Technical Regulations Law No. 7223, which was prepared in Turkey considering the horizontal regulations in the EU, determines the general principles that products must comply with, the General Product Safety Regulation, the Mutual Recognition Regulation in the Unregulated Area, Conformity Assessment Bodies and Notified Bodies Regulation, “CE” Marking Regulation and Conformity Assessment Methods Regulation are the current secondary regulations created in accordance with EU regulations.

The new revision of the Machinery Safety Regulation No. 2006/42/EC, which is among the technical regulations created based on the Law No. 7223, brings radical changes such as the verification of security-related software used in machines and their protection against cyber attacks. In this regard, new roles are assigned to third-party certification bodies.
